About Us
Valley Haven was formed in 1986 by individuals who recognized the need for an Adult Day Program in the Santa Ynez Valley. Valley Haven is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, which now has two facilities: one in the town of Ballard (outside of Solvang) in the Santa Ynez Valley, and the other in Lompoc. Valley Haven's program provides a safe, but stimulating environment during the day for seniors who suffer from confusion, memory loss, physical disabilities or other symptoms associated with failing health. Seniors attend the program from 1-5 days a week. Our hours of operation are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

WHO ATTENDS VALLEY HAVEN
Valley Haven provides life enrichment for seniors who...
- Are dependent on others;
- Have memory problems;
- Are socially isolated;
- Are frail or have some physical limitiations.
In order to attend Valley Haven, seniors must be:
- Ambulatory, or use canes and walkers, or use a wheelchair;
- Able to eat with minimal help;
- Independent in toileting;
- Non-combative.
Sample Daily Schedule

8:30 Valley Haven opens. Seniors may be dropped off by their caregivers .
9:30 Most seniors transported by Valley Haven vans have arrived at Valley Haven, and are served a continental breakfast. Members have a chance to visit amongst themselves and get caught up on the daily news. 10:30 Program activities get underway. Daily activities include musical programs, adult education classes, art and garden groups, Bingo, light exercise, current events, intergenerational activities, and special events. Noon Lunch is served. 12:45 More program activities take place. 2:30 Snack is served. 3:00 Seniors are either picked up by their caregivers, or depart on Valley Haven buses. |
