Valley Haven Adult Day Program

Valley Haven offers an Adult Day Program for dependent seniors, many of whom have Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, dementia, stroke, or other frailities. Valley Haven provides a safe and nurturing environment, which helps to improve the quality of life for both the senior and their caregiver.
Our mission is to provide services and facilities for social day care to dependent seniors and to provide respite and supportive counseling to the caregivers of these seniors.
Our goal is to help seniors remain at home as long as possible, thereby avoiding unnecessary or premature institutionalization, and its high cost.
Valley Haven provides the following services to dependent seniors and their caregivers:
  • Adult Day Program. Our Adult Day Program provides a safe, but stimulating environment for dependent seniors. This is a day program where seniors return home at night. Seniors attend the program from 1 to 4 days a week, for 6 hours per day. Activities include: word games to stimulate mental acuity, active physical games for exercise, socializing, dancing, walking, art expressions, crafts, entertainment, and read & reminisce discussions. We also have visits from the girl scouts and groups of local middle school children, which helps to promote intergenerational volunteering. A small breakfast, hot nutritious lunch and afternoon snack are served daily in order to promote healthy eating habits and ensure adequate nutrition.
  • Transportation. Transportation is provided to and from the program in our vans, which are equipped with lifts to accommodate seniors in wheelchairs.
  • Time Off. Our program allows caregivers to have some time off (respite) from the emotional and physical demands of caring for a dependent senior. The caregiver is free to work, shop, exercise, socialize and get much needed rest.
  • Education/Referrals. We have an extensive reference library with books, manuals, videos, music and games, which are available to caregivers of dependent seniors. We can also assist you by making referrals to other professionals who can help.
  • Educational Seminars and Support Group. In conjunction with the local chapter of the Alzheimerfs Association, Valley Haven offers support groups and educational seminars open to all people caring for dependent seniors. The group is free and caregivers may bring their dependent senior to our day program at no charge while they attend the support group. Advance notice is required if dependent care is needed.
